It’s been a little while since I last had something to write here, but as of yesterday I have a plane ticket, so here I am.
On July 31, I’m leaving Jacksonville for Traverse City, Michigan, home of the Wagner family. The Wagners are my cousins on Dad’s side of the family, and, although I love them something fierce, I haven’t seen them in years and years. I think the last time I saw the lot of them was when Grandmother Billy died. Paris, the youngest of Kim and John’s kids, was just a baby, and she’s in junior high now. Jordan and Loren were the two cousins my sister and I bonded most closely with, I think because their ages most closely resembled ours. I bonded a bit with Ryan, too, but he’s grown and moved away… He’s a little less than three years older than I am, I think.
I digress.
Jordan? Definitely just graduated from high school. Loren, Lane and Chase are all in high school… I bet Chase doesn’t even remember me. I know Paris will have no clue who I am. I saw a video on Facebook of Jordan driving. Driving! They make me feel so old.
All that aside… In less than two weeks, I am getting on a plane, and I am going to spend eight days in Michigan with my wonderfully awesome cousins in their totally stunning house on the lake.
I’m not sure what we’re going to do while I’m up there. Honestly, it doesn’t matter too terribly much to me. I’m just glad to be going. I think Mom mentioned Mackinac Island, and Dad mentioned (jokingly) a day trip to Canada. I know there’s the lake (which I hear is very, very, very cold, but I love water, so I’ll deal), and I understand they have a boat, and there’s tubing to be done… And I hear that area is totally cherry country, and there are a bunch of vineyards around, and…
Yeah, it doesn’t matter to me what we do. I’m just excited to go. I’m definitely looking forward to taking my camera and a book and just hanging out at the end of the dock.
Mom said Kim is supposed to be sending a bunch of brochures about Traverse City on Monday, so I’ll post again when I’ve got some more information. I’ll have to get Flickr all caught up, too, so I can post pictures of the trip while I’m there. 12 days!
